Tan Sri Dato Dr. K. R. Somasundram's Message

Most of the Hindus living in this area are Sri Rama devotees. The Sree Rama Temple was built in 1974 so that these devotees can pray to Sree Rama and obtain his blessings. Consecration (Kumbabishegam) of the temple took place in 1989.

Within the temple, there are separate shrines for Sree Letchumanar, Oorvasi and Sree Rama Baktha Hanuman in addition to the shrine for Sree Vinayagar. Now, a shrine is being erected for Sree Maha Mariamman and the third consecration ceremony (Kumbabishegam) of the Sree Rama Temple will be held in the year 2015.

A big project to built a holy and art centre has been planned for the temple. A coherent set of scenes from epic Ramayana will be depicted as engravings of sculptures on 98 black stone tablets which will be displayed around main Sanctum of Sree Rama and maintained as an indestructible art work. The Sree Rama Temple which is the biggest temple in Malaysia as well as in South East Asia can be expected to be a centre for the epic Ramayana which is widespread in South East Asia for hundreds of years and for the devotees to come and submit themselves to Lord Sree Rama.

It can also become an Arts and Culture centre attracting tourists and in promoting tourism. National Land Finance Cooperative Society will continue to maintain the Temple.

Thank you.
